The band's third studio album, (also known as Robot Face or Robot ), was released on 16 October 2015. The band released the single "Comics" on 22 June 2015, and their second single " Lone Digger" on 18 September 2015. In 2014, the band remixed Drake Bell's single "Bitchcraft". The band's second album, Panic, was released on 5 March 2012. On 3 October 2011, the band released an EP titled Clash, featuring two new songs and four remixes of them. The band released their second official single, "Suzy", on 24 February 2009. The album performed best in the band's native France where it attained a peak position of 11 in August 2009, and remained on the French albums chart for 68 consecutive weeks. In Switzerland, the album reached number 72 and in Belgium it achieved a position of 42. The album received praise for its traditional jazz inclinations, and placed in a number of European albums charts. On 20 October 2008 the self-titled Caravan Palace was released, preceded by the single "Jolie Coquine". They spent the next year recording material for their debut studio album. Following this emergence, the group were signed by the Paris-based Wagram Music record label. From 2006 to 2007 they spent a year touring around France, and their first festival appearance came at the Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival in 2007. The band became popular on the internet after releasing a number of demos and promo singles. More performers were required for the live concerts, and current band members Zoé Colotis & Paul-Marie Barbier, as well as former members Camille Chapelière and Antoine Toustou were found after searching on MySpace. Caravan palace tour 2017 series#Loïc Barrouk took an interest in the project and booked the band a recording studio and a series of gigs. STANDOUTS: Plume, Leena, Moonshine, Miracle, April I think that Caravan Palace has a bit to work on in terms of their vocals and development of ideas, but conceptually the album has a lot of potential, and it really succeeds at coming together as a whole. In my opinion April has the best vocals and serves as a pretty melodious and sweet finale to the project. Nitpicking just a little bit, the vocals and lyrics can often become awkward (like on Miracle) and run too long on some tracks, taking up time where the production could shine (see Melancolia). I also don’t really care for the instrumental interludes on the project like Fargo or Ghost. Other tracks like About You don’t seem to pull their weight as much and feel a bit flat compared to the bombastic chorus of Leena or the bittersweet nature of Melancolia. Miracle and Supersonics demonstrate this problem, and while the tracks are great conceptually, they get tired pretty quickly, especially when there’s less development of the idea. Some tracks are better than others, sure, but all of the tracks have their place.Ī few tracks tend to run with the same idea for too long, and exhaust the beat after ⅔ of the way through. That’s not to say that the album doesn’t have a clear tone in fact, Chronologic is able to balance the individuality of each track with the general style of the record, something many albums are unable to accomplish. It’s not all head-throbbing bass and songs that all sound the same. While one might expect a bunch of extremely loud, high energy music from an electronic/dance record, each song on the project has a different mood than the last and each one sounds unique. It’s filled with a ton of well-produced tracks that you can’t help but bop your head to. What I do know is that Chronologic feels unique and different, something that I value a lot in albums. I’ve been told it’s a bit more pop and less jazzy, but I wouldn’t know. Their newest album is more house influenced than their past two records, which have been in an electro-swing style, and it’s already performing considerably well on the charts.Ĭonsidering that I have never heard any other Caravan Palace albums, I can’t comment on how this album compares to their music in the past. Caravan Palace has made big waves in the electronic genre, with their previous releases Caravan Palace and ( Robot Face) climbing considerably high on the US Dance charts (impressive, considering the group is made up of 7 jazz players). Chronologic is a 2019 electronic LP by Parisian band Caravan Palace.
